Motor-car Runs Along Kerbing. TWO SHATTERED BICYCLES. Cannoning from verandah post to verandah post and leaving two bicycles as mangled ruins in its wake, a heavy 7 five-seater touring car suffered extensive damage following an unusual accident in Victoria Street shortly’ after noon to-day. Although the left side of the car was a crumpled ruin and the windshield was shattered, the driver of the car, Mr D. Stock, a land agent, of Manchester Street, escaped with only minor cuts on his hands. Also involved in the accident was a large motor-van, owned by Cadbury-Frv-Hudson, Ltd., and driven by Mr G. W. Calvert, 74, Wildberry’ Street, Woolston.

Mr Stock was driving north along Victoria Street with several passengers in his car, including Mr W. Webb, also a member of the firm, who shared the front seat with him. The van swung north out of Cambridge Terrace into Victoria Street The two vehicles came into collision almost immediately outside the shop of Sutherland and Co., 13. Victoria Street. Mr Stock’s car cannoned off and struck the high kerb, the two bicycles, one owned by Mr R. IT. Sutherland and the other by 7 Mr J. Hood, acting as convenient buffers. The car crashed its way along four lengths of verandah before coming to a halt. The running board and left midguards we/e stripped from the car, the left front axle was bent right back, the struts of the hood were shattered and a trail of broken glass from the broken windshield could be traced for a considerable distance. The right front mudguard was also heavily dented. The only damage suffered by 7 the van was a dent on the left front mudguard* where the vehicles came into collision.

One bicyxle was crushed into an eccentric ruin and the other had a wheel torn out of shape.
