SEVERE EARTHQUAKE.
Over 2000 Miles From Wellington. Per Press Association. WELLINGTON, July 19. A" very intense earthquake was recorded at the Dominion Observatory this morning, commencing at 7.16 and causing the instruments to swing for about three hours. The distance from Wellington is computed at about 2100 miles in a direction not yet ascertainable.
A big shock of less intensity and at a somewhat greater distance was recorded yesterday afternoon.
