Fine for Failing to Pay Levy.

Six charges of failing to pay Instalments of the unemployment levy were preferred against James Mayor Boyd in the Rangiora Court to-day. On the first charge he was fined £2 and costs, on the second charge £l and costs, on the third ordered to pay costs only, and was convicted and discharged on the remaining charges. Traffic Cases. Traffic cases brought by the Highways traffic inspector were dealt with as folFor driving at a dangerous speed. Freda Kummer was fined £2 and costs, and Lj. E. AspclJ £1 and costs. H. A. Beadel. R. Court, R. Henry and H. S. Mehrtens were each fined 10s and costs for driving without licenses. For using an unregistered car, A. Taylor was fined 10s and costs, and was also fined 10s and costs for driving without a license. A Swift was fined 10s and costs for cycling without a light. A charge against B. C. Topp (Mr E. D. R. Smith) of using an unregistered motor vehicle (a harvester header) was dismissed. The Magistrate said that he had grave doi*bts as to whether such a machine was a vehicle within the meaning of the Motor Vehicles Act. Civil Caifes. Blundell. £9 14s 7d: Cam Dairy Produce Company, Ltd. v. R. L. Karaitiana, £3 16s.
