AN URGENT QUESTION.
Discussion of Sustenance Scheme by House.
In order to comply with the resolution passed by the City Council on Monday evening, the Mayor telegraphed yesterday to the leader of the Opposition, asking him to approach the Speaker regarding the Suggested motion to adjourn the House to allow the whole question of unemployment and relief pay to be discussed/ The Mayor received a reply from Mr Savage as follows: “Re men on sustenance. Your telegram received. Have interviewed Speaker. Regret not possible to move adjournment on any
matter that has been already dis* cussed, or which may be discussed und efordinary forms of House. As this matter has already Been discussed and is raised from time to time it cannot be further discussed under a motion to adjourn. I suggest you raise matter by urgent question.”
