Jack Hulbert’s Latest Farce Comedy.
Variety is the keynote of ‘‘Dancing Lady,” the spectacular musical play at the Regent Theatre this week. The leading roles are taken by Joan Crawford, Clark Gable and Franchot Tone. First-class “ shorts ” complete the bill of fare.
“Jac.k Ahoy,” which comes to the Regent Theatre on Saturday. i s a Gaumont-British picture full of fun and laughter. Jack Hulbert is at his breeziest best in this story of the “ descendant of a long line of admirals ” who feels the call of the quar-ter-deck. although only an A.B. It transpires that he failed to qualify for officer rank, but in order that the Navy should not lose his services, joined as an ordinary seaman and in course of time became an' A. 8., who fell in love, with the admiral’s daughter the moment he saw her. That’s the wav they have in the Navy, if one is to believe Sydney Gilliat, who wrote this screaming comedy.
