NOEL COWARD COMEDY
Highly Amusing Story in “ Design for Living.”
The talking screen version of Noel Cowards “Design for Living” heads the current programme at the Tivoli Theatre. Fredric March. Gary Cooper and Miriam Hopkins are the principals in this dazzling modern cornedv. with Edward Everett Horton, also in the cast for good measure. In every respect the picture comes up to expectations, the highly amusing and unconventional story being convincingly portrayed. Sophistication is the keynote of this story of a girl who cannot choose between two gay cavaliers, and finally marries a third lover, only to that a fresh train of complexities follows the wedding. Gary Cooper, with his broad, disarming smile, is seen in the role of an artist who makes good after an ineffectual beginning, and Fredric March has the part of a plavwright, also struggling for success Miriam Hopkins plays Gilda, the beautiful girl, -who is their inspiration. This talented trio combine to great effect, lifting the picture to a high level. In support of this capital comedy are a number of first-class “ shorts.”
