BAND AND PICTURES.

Well-varied Programme at Theatre Royal. The world-famous Tom Katz Saxophone Band heads the current programme at the Theatre Royal. Strikingly uniformed as negro bell-boys, the Tom Katz Band is an agitated combination, marching in effective formations, dancing, posturing and clowning to the accompaniment of its own music. Almost the whole range of music is embraced, from a very fair brass band effect to the wail of Scottish pipes. The numbers are skilfully varied, the latest cabaret “ hits ” in syncopation giving place to popular musical comedy tunes, such as the Sextette from “ Florodora.” In consequence, everyone is delighted. “ They Call it Sin,” the big pictorial offering, is a sophisticated film, depicting backstage life in New Y’ork. Lovely Loretta Y’oung has a part which might have been written for her, as the smalltown girl who leaves a narrow home to seek work in the big city.
