“JACK’S THE BOY.”
Gay British Comedy Offered at Civic. The decision of British Dominion Films to return to the Civic Theatre the Gainsborough production “Jack’s the Boy,” has been fully justified, judging by the large crowds that have attended each screening. When previously shown in New Zealand this brilliant comedy proved such a success that seasons had to be extended in all cities, and when later presented in Australia it established a record long-run season by running twenty-five weeks in one theatre. The stars, Jack Hulbert. Cicely Courtneidge. and Winifred Shotter, have never been seen to better advantage. Jack Hulbert can do everything that is required of a comedian. He can sing, he dances exceptionally well, and he can contort his extraordinary face in the most telling manner. Excellent supports include “ By the Weigh,’’ Ideal News, “Cold Blooded Friends (Nature), “Summit Seekers” (New Zealand Scenic). Box plans are open at the theatre from 10 a.m.
