GIRLS' COMPETITION.

Request for Financial Assistance. A meeting of the Management Com1 1 V« ee the Canterbury Cricket Association was held last evening, Mr W. L King presiding. The Canterbury Girls’ Cricket Association forwarded a request for some'financial assistance. Members agreed that further inforniation us to the organisation of girls’ «ri<*et Was necessary, and it was decided to ask that a deputation should attend the next Management Committee meeting to give information as to the control and finances of the association. J. , fl ! rther resolved to congratulate the Girls Association on the performances of tlie girls’ teams at Wanganui and in Dunedin. * u * A letter received from the Otago Association suggested that a colts match between Otago and Cante,T>ury should be instituted. The proposal was referred to the incoming committee. Mr W. H. Winsor remarked that more first-class cricket was needed. He favoured home and home interprovincial games every year unless there was a touring side in the Dominion. A letter was received from the Wellington Association in which congratulations were extended to Canterbury on the victory in the match with Wellington played in Christchurch. resolved , to donate a guinea to tne fc>t John Ambulance Association.
