CRICKET TOURS.

Matter for New Zealand Council. CANTERBURY’S SUPPORT. _ Confidence in the New Zealand Cricket l ounc.nl in the arranging of tours from overseas was expressed at last evening's meeting of the. Management Committee of the Canterbury Cricket Association. when a letter from the Wellington Association was under discussion. It was agreed* that the New Zealand Council had the support of Canterbury on the question, as it was considered by the committee that the duty of arranging such visits fell on the council. The Wellington Association wrote enclosing a copy of a letter sent to the New Zealand Council requesting that negotiations be opened at once with a view to the council arranging for an overseas team to visit the Dominion next season. The letter to the council, after stating that disappointment had been felt in some quarters at the cancellation of the Australian tour, added that, if the council did not wish to enter into negotiations for a tour, the Wellington Association sought permission to negotiate with the M.C.C or India, failing satisfactory arrangements with Australia. It was decided to reply to the Wellington Association that the matter of arranging tours was the duty of the New Zealand Council, in which the Canterbury Association had every conSome members said that the Wellington Association showed enthusiasm, but it was agreed that the principle of tours being arranged by the council should be adhered to by Dominion associations.
