PLUNKET SOCIETY.

Annual ISfleeting of SHirleyRichmond Sub-branch. The annual meeting of the ShirleyRichmond branch of the Plunket Society was held in the Randall Street Church nail, in presenting the annual rvport and statement of accounts, the president, Mrs S. P. Godfrey, stated that the year had closed with a balance of £lO -s Sa. The reduction in the subscriptions from mothers had made more work for the committee in their endeavour to cover expenses. The committee had held a successful jumble sale to augment the funds. Thanks were expressed for gifts of a tapestry bag from Mrs E. E. Good, and a copper money-box from Mr R. G. Arnould with which competitions had been held and had helped the funds substantially. The total attendances at the Plunket rooms for the year was 2683, a little less than last year.

The committee wished to place on record their appreciation of Nurse Osborne’s services. They were indebted to the Randall Street Church authorities for the use of the rooms, which, since they had been enlarged were much appreciated by the nurse. Thev wished also to thank Mr J. M. Preston for again auditing the accounts. The branch had sole charge of the produce stall for Violet Day and was pleased with the takings which amounted to £36 18s. The election of officers for the ensuing year resulted .as follows:—President, Mrs S. P. Godfrey; vice-presi-dents, Mrs Parnham and Mrs W. W. Bassett; committee, Mesdames L. A. Barrett, H. R. Blair, R. W. Owen, S. Provost, A. J. Steere. W. W. Rowntree and W. J. Shearman; Misses A. D. Butcher and J. Dawe; honorary secretary and treasurer, Mrs J. M. Preston. Miss Cora Wilding gave an interesting talk on the aims and objects of the Sunlight League which, in many respects, are similar to those of the Plunket Society. Afternoon tea was served by the committee. A competition for a box of handkerchiefs was won by Mrs T. H. Phipps.
