MR G. B. SHAW SAILS.

Largest Crowd This Year on Wharf. For Press Association. WELLINGTON, April 14. The largest crowd that has gathered this year to farewell a passenger liner thronged the Glasgow wharf to-day, when the Rangitane left with 350 passengers, including a large draft of naval ratings and many notabilities, including Mr Bernard Shaw and Mrs Shaw. Mr Shaw appeared at the rails periodically, and was there at the last, when the vessel got under way. Among the familiarities thrown in his direction was one: “ Free milk for you when you come back, Bernard.” Excitement was provided by. the late arrival of bouquets, a man rushing up with full arms and the crowd helping to pass them . through the portholes, while he rushed back for more. The Rangitane was flying the paying-off pennant of 11.M.5. Laburnum, whose ratings are returning Home, having been replaced by a draft which arrived at Aucklahd this week;
