Mr and Mrs Pat Barrett are spending their honeymoon in Auckland. Mr and Mrs P. Conway Staples, New Plymouth, are visiting Akaroa. Mr and Mrs O. B. Bridger, Wellington, are visiting Christchurch. Mrs John Deans, Riccarton, left for Wellington last night. Miss Catherine Johnston, Otaio, has returned from a trip to Australia. Mrs E. J. LeCren and Miss Ethel LeCren, Timaru, left yesterday for Sydney. Miss Thora Mason. Okains Bay, is the guest of Mrs S. S. Barclay, Little River. Miss June Orbell, Timaru, who has spent several months in the North Island, will return home to-morrew. Mr and Mrs Richard Candy, Camp Bay, have left on a motor tcur of Nelson and Westland. Mrs J. C. Dobbs, Christchurch, who has been the guest of her parents, Mr and Mrs P. Fahey, Chisken, Little River, has returned home. Mr and Mrs H. A. Benton, Belfield, Orari, who have been in Christchurch for the past two weeks, returned home to-day Mrs Percival James, Wellington, came south last night on her way to Dunedin, where she will be the guest of h,er sister, Lady Fenwick. The Rev and ,Mrs 11. F. Ault, missionaries on furlough from Karachi, India, and their son, are the guests of the Rev and Mrs D. R. Hay, the Vicarage, Little River. Mrs James Deans, Ilomebush, Coalgate, left last night to join the Rangitane for England, where she will stay with her parents, Sir Charles and Lady Iloldsworth. Mrs W. 11. Trengrove, Cambridge Terrace, and her son, John, have returned home after spending a holiday at the West Coast Glaciers. Miss Matilda Wade, sub-matron of the New Plymouth Hospital, has been appointed lady superintendent of the Auckland Infirmary out of twenty-nine applicants. Tlie resignation of Mrs R. C. Candy a member of the executive, was received with regret at the annual meeting of the North Canterbury Federation of Women’s Institutes yesterday.

Mrs Charles Miller, Woodbury, is visiting Christchurch. Miss Norah Hocking, Feilding, is visiting her aunt, Mrs Gowing, Chester Street West. Mrs A. J. Ilarrop, wife of Dr Ilarrop, was a passenger for Christchurch from the north this morning. Miss Constance Morice, Wellington, will leave by the Rangitane to-morrow for a trip to England. Sir Theo and Lady Metcalf, England, who have been staying in Wellington for several weeks, left ypsterday for Napier, en route for Taupo. Mrs Lutton Carter is an English visitor to Christchurch at present, and is staying with her daughter, Mrs R. J. Richards, Christ’s College. Mr and Mrs E. G. Blick and Miss Dorothy Blick, Burtergill, Marlborough, have returned home from a visit to Christchurch. Miss Irene Wilson, president of the Wellington branch of the Federation of University Women, welcomed Miss Mather at a social gathering in Wellington on Monday- evening, on her return from a conference of the Student Christian Union held at Java. Mrs L. It. Goodwin, Birmingham, England, and Mrs John Urquliart, Invercargill, are the guests of their sister, Mrs T. D. Lennie, Knowles Street. Mrs Goodwin is accompanied by her younger son. Mrs C. H. Wagstaff, Fendalton, and her sister, Miss A. Spence, Cashel Street, who have been staying with friends in Wellington, following a visit to New Plymouth, will return Home tomorrow. Miss Billie Strachan will leave Christchurch on Monday evening to join the Maunganui for Rarotonga, where her marriage to Mr John Ainger, formerly of Christchurch, will take place. Miss St.achan is now the guest of Mr and Mrs J. Ainger, Fendalton. Miss Agnes Barrett, Gresford, Papanui Road, returned yesterday morning from several months’ holiday in the North Island. Miss Barrett spent some time with friends in Auckland and later visited Hawke’s Bay. She was in Waipawa for the wedding of her brother, Mr Pat Barrett, to Miss Edna Whelch, of Lake Station, Waipukurau, which took place last week.
