Winter Redding .

A Garden Corner.

INTER bedding schemes have to be worked Out so far ahead that frequently spring comes round to point out what opportunities were missed by not doing it in time. The ground utilised for summer display is now ready for its winter tidying up and thereafter available for the next crop. It is a truism to say. “ In autumn prepare for spring.” And there are so many fine things available giving a choice for everyone. Mass display, whether in small or large beds, always appeals. A bed of rrmmculus, anemones or hyacinths Is complete in itself. Tulips, narcissi and English or Dutch iris are best with carpet plants of wallflower, myosotis, double daisies, ambretia or polyanthus. Trumpet narcissus with a grounding of white arabis and blue muScari is charming. A good display can be got very cheaply by freely sowing many of the hardy annuals. Godetias, clarkias, emophila and larkspur are outstanding. Poppies, either Shirley or carnation, are also splendid. There is really unlimited scope. ' T. D. LENNIE.
