POLICE COURT NEWS.
Two Remands Granted This Morning.
At a sitting- of tlie Police Court this morning Mr E. D. Mosley, S.M., presided. On a charge of stealing a bicycle, valued at £2, the property of ‘William Clarence Washington, Stephen Edward Crooke, a labourer, 35 years of age, of Falsgrave Street (Dr Haslam) was remanded until April 17. Bail was allowed in the sum of £25, a condition being that the accused reports daily to the police. Sampson Robert Cleland, a cook, 28 years of age (Dr Haslam) was remanded to April 17 on a charge of attempting to obtain five gallons of beer, valued at 17s 9d, and £8 18s 3d in money from New Zealand Breweries, Ltd., 'by falsely representing that a cheque drawn on the Bankmf New Zealand at Christchurch for £9 11s was a good and valid order. Bail was fixed at £IOO, with one surety of £IOO, a condition being that the accused report daily to the police.
