Christchurch, Thursday, sth. Helen, dear, — I simply must let you know about the thrilling material I have bought at Hay’s for my new dress. It’s a gorgeous, soft, woollen, material in a mulberry shade. You can imagine just how it will suit me! Hay’s are wonderful for materials, and so cheap. As you know, I’ve shopped there for ages, and it’s better than ever with the new company in charge. Their winter materials are spl.endid, and I’ve picked out something for your new evening frock. You can see it when you come to town. Get Miss Allan, Hay’s dresscutter, to cut it out for you. She charges only 2s, and her things fit so well. With love, Yours ever, JOAN.
