YACHTING.
Races Held at Lyttelton on Saturday. Four races were held by the Canterbury Yacht and Motor-Boat Club on .Saturday afternoon. There was very little wind and the racing was uninteresting except for the X class event. 3n this there was an exciting contest l>etweon Irene and Avenger, the latter beating the champion by more than her handicap. Results:— Open class, started at 3.13 p.m.—Walmana (T. Harkess) ser, 5.15.30 p.m.. 1; Hakari (I. Newton), 22min, 5.50.12 p.m., ptf?"/ 8 ” 81 ’ Yvonne and Water Beetle Z class, started at 3.1 p.m.—Ulra <H. Wells). 2min. 1; Rascal (R. Hendry), scr, 2: Wairnna (L. M'Ginty), 3. Wee May also finished. Mi Peru and Atom retired. X class, started at 3.25 p.m.—Avenger (R. Priddy). Irnln. 1; Irene (E. Sinclair), scr. 2; Elfin (J. Hobbs). Slmin. 3. Hula (W. Tissiman) and Jean (T. Hc.bbs) retired. D class, started 3.31 p.m.—Lolita, Imin. I: Nape Nape, scr., 2: Ngahau, "min, 3. The only starters. Yesterday the final of a series of three races for the Lester Cup was sailed. The course was from the moles, around tb» whistling hnov off the heads. I around Shoe reef and finish between the moles. The wind was fresh south- I west, with a calm sea. There were only i two starters. Manned and Water Beetle : The race was started at 11.18 a m. and j the finish was:—Maramri (scr). 1.35.2 p.m.. 1: Water Beetle (24inin). 1.59.15 P.m., 2. Maramri. having won two of the three races, wins the Lester Cup. 1
