Archbishop Duhig Delayed by Storm. - AEROPLANE HELD UP. SYDNEY, February 16. Archbishop Duhig, Roman Catholic Bishop of Brisbane, left Brisbane by aeroplane this morning for Sydney to catch the Monowai to attend Archbishop Redwood’s jubilee celebrations. Stormy weather was encountered and a stop was made at Coff s Harbour. , The aeroplane then continued, but in the face of further heavy weather returned to L’off’s Harbour. A relief aeroplane was sent from Sydney to bring Archbishop Duhig on. Meanwhile the Monowai delayed her sailing nearly two hours. She was unable to wait longer, and the machine, with the Archbishop on board, arrived in Sydney about 6 o’clock, about half an hour after the Monowai had sailed. MESSAGE FROM POPE. Archbishop Redwood Congratulated. Ptr Press Association. WELLINGTON, February 17. Archbishop Redwood has received the following cable from the Pope:— “ The Holy Father sincerely congratulates his Grace, Archbishop Redwood, on the sixtieth anniversary of his episcopal consecration, and highly appreciates the work he has done, and most lavishly bestows on him the Apostolic Benediction praying for a continuance of Divine assiAance." Archbishop Redwood has also received a message from the Apostolic Delegate in Sydney, Archbishop Bernardini, and another from the Wellington Branch of the League of Nations Union. The opening celebrations in connection with the Episcopal Diamond Jubilee of Archbishop Redwood will be the offering of Pontifical High Mass by the Archbishop himself at the Basilica of the Sacred Heart on February 25. Mr Forbes will attend. The following Tuesday there will be a civic reception. The Mayor will preside and Mr Forbes will deliver ail address. Archbishop Mannix to Preach. Archbishop Mannix. of Melbourne, arrived in Christchurch to-day and is staying at the Cathedral Presbytery, Barbadoes Street. He will preach at the Roman Catholic Cathedral tomorrow night, and on Monday will leave for Dunedin. He will pass through Christchurch next Friday on his way to Wellington.
