HEATHCOTE RATES.
Ten Per Cent Penalty Imposed To-day. The statutory 10 per cent penalty was imposed to-day on £3045 of Heathcote County rates which are outstanding for the current year. The total rates' levied amounted to £17,587, and £14,542, or 82.68 per cent, was paid before the imposition of the penaltv. Last year the amount levied was £17,180, and £14,783, or 86.01 per cent, was paid before the penalty was imposed. The amount levied this year was £4Ol more than last year, and the payments to date are £642 less.
