Yesterday was the last day on which ratepayers in the Heathcote County could pay their rates for the current year without incurring the statutory 10 per cent penalty. During the day the sum of £1737 was received at the county office, bringing the total amount paid up to £14,305, leaving £3282 outstanding. Amounts which are received by the first post this morning in envelopes bearing yesterday’s date will not be subject to the penalty. No need to be dull!
