RABBIT FARMERS.

Address on Angora Wool Production. The monthly meeting of the Cooperative Rabbit Breeders’ Association of New Zealand was held on Thursday evening, when Mr H. A. Dawber, vicepresident, occupied the charr. The meeting was the largest ever held by the association, there being about one hundred members and persons interested present. Six new members were elected from various parts of the Dominion. Mr A. Lawrence, show secretary. reported that the entries for the association’s young stock show were coming in very well and during the evening he received a number of entries from those present. Mr Wright gave a lengthy address, during which he traversed the history of Angora wool farming in New Zealand and Great Britain, making special reference to the raffid progress made. The speaker dealt fully with the existing marketing conditions, pointing out to those present the importance of the most accurate grading of Angora wool in New Zealand if a stabilised and profitable market was to be retained in England. It was essential, he said, that Angora wool farmers should, in organising their industry, take advantage of the knowledge of the mistakes that had been made in the past in the marketing of many other primary products, the most important feature being the exporting of Angora wool of the correct texture and grades as required by English mills. He explained that during the past few weeks advice had been received from buyers asking •for the quantities of wool shipped from New Zealand to be doubled as quickly as possible, and he claimed that under the association’s official marketing scheme through New Zealand Fur and Angora Wool Producers, Ltd., the existing requirements of home buyers would enable the present output from New Zealand to be trebled within the next few months.
