Activities of Quarter Reviewed. Fleck, another member of the executive. During the past three months 117° clays’ subsidised work had been found at a cost of £363 17s sd, and 244 days’ work had been provided without subsidy. Six men had been found permanent employment, and a number of others had been given temporary jobs. It was significant, however, that out of a membership of approximately 2000, there were 650 unemployed. The unemployment officer (Mr C. Chisnall) said that a number of the men employed were not in a fit state of health to undertake heavy work, and it was very difficult to find sufficient light employment. It was harder to obtain work now than ever before.
