T7.X*.S. Dispensary. The annual meeting of the committee will take place next Thursday night in Ridgely Hall. The statement of accounts will be presented, and great interest is being shown in the election of officers for the ensuing term. a.o.i*. Centenary Celebrations. —Preliminary arrangements have been made in regard to the first of the Centenary Celebrations in the Canterbury district. The announcement of a monster picnic at Stewart's Gully on Easter Saturday has created unusual interest, and special arrangements at excursion rates have been made with the. Railway Department for the conveyance of members and their friends to the picnic grounds. Toys will be provided for children under five years of age, and hot water and milk will be provided free. A cricket match will be played between Star of Belfast and allcomers. In view of the approaching conference, members are reminded that before the end of this month the names of district delegates must be sent in to the District Secretary. It is essential that nomination forms, for candidates seeking district office, should be in the hands of the District Secretary (as well as the annual returns from secretaries) before March 1. 1.0. R. Triennial District Council Meeting. The agenda paper for the conference which will take place in the Rechabite Chambers, Wellington, on Saturday, March 31, contains matters for serious consideration. After the election of officers, for which there is apparently keen competition, the conference will settle down to decide a number of interesting remits. Foremost is that dealing with the establishment of Provincial Council Districts and Provincial Councils, which shall be under the control and subject to the District Council and District Executive, and shall make such reports from time to time as desired by the district officers. This remit, if carried, will be the means of giving Provincial Councils direct control of their own funds for investments locally, and other powers for the extension of the Order in the provincial districts. Pride of Christchurch Tent.—The inclement weather on Saturday last was responsible for the postponement of the annual picnic to Shipley’s Run. Arrangements have since been made to hold the outing at the same place on Saturday, February 24, under the conditions previously made.

Riccarton Tent.—The fortnightly meeting was held in the Town Hall last evening. D.R. Brother Willan presided in the absence of the C.R., Sister E. Roberts. Sick pay was passed to the members and the sick steward reported that the three members who were in hospital were progressing favourably. After the meeting a programme of items was provided by the Sister P.C.R. s and supper was served. Ark of Refuge Tent.—Sister A. Colleston presided, and one new member was elected and initiated. It was resolved to send a letter of sympathy to Brother Robinson, of Enterprise Tent, who recently suffered bereavement through the death of his wife. The

Juvenile Tent approved of the recommendation of the Adult Tent that it changes its name to “ The Hassall Memorial Juvenile Tent.” A report of the satisfactory progress of the Juvenile Tent was received, and at the conclusion of the meeting members indulged in dancing. i.0.0.r. Star of Opawa Lodge.—The N.G. Brother S, Young, presided, and correspondence was received from the North Canterbury District and Degree Lodge notifying the nomination and election of D.D.G.M., and first nomination of District Lodge officers, all P.G.’s being invited to attend. The returning officer advised - that Brothers Greenslade, M’Cullougb and Simmons had been elected Grand Lodge representatives for the coming session. An official visit was paid by members and officers of the Star of St Albans Lodge. and a hearty welcome was extended to P.G. Brother Valentine (Leith Lodge, Dunedin) and Brother Allsopp (Washington). At the conclusion of lodge business cards were played, and supper served. m.tl, i.0.0.r. Loyal Rangiora Lodge.—Brother F. R. Minchington. N.G., presided over a good attendance. A motion of sympathy in the death of his wife, was passed with Brother J. M'Aleer. Two members’ claims for payment of the maternity allowance were approved. Advice was received from the Loyal City of Norwich Lodge. Lyttelton, that March 27 was a suitable date for the proposed visit.- The agenda paper for the Ashley District conference to be held on March 3 was received from the district secretary. It was decided to recommend the conference to nominate Brother j. A. Ivory, P.D.G.M.. for a seat, on the Board of Directors of the New Zealand Branch of the Manchester Unity. Loyal City of Christchurch.—At the last meeting the members entertained the Loyal Sister Pearce and Loyal Kaiapoi Lodges. The Noble Grands, Sister M. Brizley (Sister Pearce Lodge) and Sister Brown (Kaiapoi Lodge), thanked the lodge for the welcome. Sister Brown extended an invitation 'to the members to visit the Kaiapoi Lodge on Tuesday March 13. On that occasion the Sister Pearce Lodge would also be in attendance: The fortnightly meeting of the Riccarton Tent, 1.0. R., was held in the U.A.O.D. Ivy of Linwood Lodge.—The Arch Druid, Brother J. Collins, presided, and a motion of sympathy was passed to the relatives of Brother A. Griffen. It was decided to add Dr L. IT. Cordery’s name to the medical officers’ list. The vice-arch charge competition, which was open to members who have not passed through that office, was judged by P.G.R. Brother George Bates, Brothers Ballan (secretary) and T. Burgess (treasurer). The competition was won by Brother C. Collins, with Brother P. Cotton second and Brother E. Burgess third. The prizes were presented by the Arch Druid, who congratulated the winners on their renderings, and an adjournment was made for the entertainment of visitors. Mistletoe Lodge.:—V.A. Brother W. Turton presided, and the bards’ report was received and two new members were proposed. The secretary stated that next lodge night was quarter night, and as there are three candidates to be initiated and the remits for the coming Grand Lodge session to be brought before the lodge, he asked for a large attendance of members. The following visitors were welcomed: P.G.P. Brother J. T. Collins and A.D. Brother J. Collins (Ivy of Linwood), P.A. Brother F. A. Orchard (Royal Oak Dunedin), and Brother J. E. Bennett (Roskill, Auckland).

Pioneer Lodge.—A.D. Brother C. H. Gyde presided. * An invitation was received and accepted from the Hope of St Albans Lodge to the installation of the newly-elected district president, Brother Kean. A present of a very fine cystal goblet was made to each of the ladies who assisted in the recent children’s Christmas treat. It was decided to grant the sum of 10s 6d and 5s to the winner and runner-up in the card tournament during the coming year. After the business concluded a card match was held, a prize being donated by P.D.P. Brother H. Beckett, Brother W. T. Yorston being the winner. It was decided to present G.P. Brother Baines with the lodge’s medallion, and P.D.P. Brother Robinson with his collar on Monday, March 12. and to invite- the officers and members of the Hope of St Albans and Mistletoe Lodges to be present. Perseverance Lodge.—The social evening set down for next lodge night promises to be a great success. Members and their wives and lady friends are promoting an excellent programme of dancing, music, etc. Hope of St Albans.—The installation of the new District President (Brother R. Keen) took place at the meeting on Tuesday night. There was a large attendance of visitors from Pioneer. Mistletoe and Ivy of Linwood Lodges. The secretary reported the death of the late Brother J. J. Gilbert, who was Arch Druid of the lodge in 1594, and a motion of sympathy was carried with his relatives. The installation of the District President was conducted by P.D.P. Brother Robinson (Pioneer Lodge) and was rendered in an impressive manner. At the conclusion of lodge business members adjourned for cards and harmony.
