PAYMENT OF RATES.

Moderate Response up to Date. Generally speaking, local body rates this year are being paid in about the same volume as last year, such small changes as are noticeable being in the direction of an improvement. Of the total citv levy of £331,432 for this year, £64,078 had been paid up till yesterday. On the corresponding date last year the amount paid was £54,651. The amount outstanding yesterday was £267,353 as against £268,702 on the corresponding date last year.
