EXPORT OF STOCK.

Possibilities Pointed Out by Minister. MEETING REQUIREMENTS. Per Press Association. DANNEVIRKE, February 14. Speaking at the Dannevirke A. and P. Association’s jubilee show, the Hon E. A. Ransom said that, haying regard to the fact that it was nearly impossible for stock to be imported into the Dominion owing to the foot and mouth disease regulations, why should not New Zealand export stud stock. Their stock was healthy and surely they could develop an export trade in it. He believed this was attainable with proper organisation. There was sometimes a failure on the part of their exporters to realise the requirements of importers overseas. To succeed in business it was necessary to stock the goods required by customers. So it was with their primary products. They had to produce articles that customers overseas required. Requirements should be met and the variety of exports increased. New Zealand could produce many things besides wool, cheese and meat, and he believed there were great possibilities in markets other than Great Britain.

The Minister held strong views that the Dominion was insufficiently represented in the Homeland, on the Continent and in the United States. It was imperative that buyers who wanted New Zealand goods should get them and nothing else. As Minister of Lands, one thing that had impressed him particularly was the fact that where the best stock was produced and where farmers were most prosperous was where holdings were small rather than large. Tour of the East. WELLINGTON, February 14. Mr W. A. lorns, chairman of the New Zealand Dairy Produce Control Board, intimated this evening that he would make a tour of the East about the beginning of April in order to investigate prospective markets for New Zealand dairy produce. Mr lorns intends to visit Malaya, Shanghai, Hong Kong, Singapore and Japan.
