RACE ABANDONED.
Boat Capsizes on the Estuary. The Christchurch Sailing and Power • Boat Club’s combined class sailing race, held on the Estuary on Saturday, had to be abandoned when one of the competing boats, Luana (K. Dash) capsized, and about six of the other boats went to its assistance. Owing to poor weather conditions, two of the three races previously arranged by the club this season have resulted in “no contest." none of the boats succeeding in finishing within in the time limit. On .Saturday. however, sailing conditions were excellent, and members and officials were particularly unfortunate in having to call off the race, more especially as it had attracted the splendid entry of twenty-one boats. When the mishap occurred, on the second round of the Sky lark-A von cousre, Te Aral, the scratch boat, was in the lead, followed by Rita, Seapup and Secret. At this stage the recently overhauled Cordelia, owned now by T. Green and A. Dykes, was showing something of her former sailing ability. On Sunday, December 10, at 10 a.m., the club will hold the first of its trials to select its representatives for the Dominion Z class championship, to be held in Dunedin late in January.
