Canterbury Cash Club’s Meeting. The Canterbury Cash Athletic Club held weekly meeting- at South Hagley Park last evening. Large fields contested the events and close finishes were witnessed. Cash running has improved considerably this.year, the clUb having several new runners. The retirement of D. M Lennan last season has left the cash men without an outstanding baekmarker. The 880yds resulted in a good win for R. F. M’Kenzie, who ran a heady race. T. Wellsmore ran a well-judged race to win the 120yds in the fast time of 12sfec. Results: 120yds—First heat: W. Costello 1, E. W. Collins 2, N, Rillcliff 3. Won by a yard. Time —12sec. Second heat: T. Wei ism ore 1, R. S. Thompson 2, T. Kennedy 3. Won by a foot. Time—l2 1-a sec Final: Wellsmore 1, Collins 2, Billcliff 3. The field got away to a perfect start, Wellsmore gaining the verdict from Collins by inches. Billcliff was a foot away. Time —12sec. 880yds—R. F. M’Kenzie 1, N. J.Cassin 2. C. Baker 3. M. Casein led for the first lap. M’Kenzie, who was in a good position throughout, produced a great burst of speed in the straight to beat N. Cassin by five yards. Baker was close up third. Time—lmin_s7sec Boys’ race —T. Jagger 1, R. M Klnley 2. R. Kitt 3.
