Domestic Positions in the Country.

The following letter has been addressed to the secretaries of the various branches of the Women’s Division of the Farmers’ Union by the secretary of the Christchurch Women's Unemployment Committee;— “With reference to the unemployment among women and girls, I wish to direct the attention of your members to the fact that tine Women’s Unemployment Committee has a Training Centre, in which unemployed women and girls are taught cooking: and domestic duties. It is hoped, by this means, that a number of unemployed women may be placed in domestic positions in the country. It is realised that the farming community Is fetelfng the effects of the depression, and, therefore, the principles of the 4a Scheme for males be applied to females. If any of your members are in need of domestic hJelp, will you kindly communicate with this office, and a n endeavour will be made to select a suitable person to fill the position. A subsidy up to 5s a wesek will be paid in all approved applications. Should any of your members care to inspect the Training Centre and see the girls at work, kindly ring telephone 33-002 and make arrangements.”
