NAVAL SKATING CARNIVAL
The new management of the Olympia Rink, Dundas Street, held an enjoyable naval skating party on Saturday evening. Special nautical decorations were displayed. A large scene depicting the bridge deck of a vessel covered the end wall, and with the rails around the rink, gave the effect of skating on the deck of a ship. Maritime melodies were played by the latest sound system and many entertaining novelties were introduced. A number of skaters present were in naval dress. During the evening an all-skate contest was held, resulting in the following finalists:—Misses N. Dunlop, G. Hurst, P. Durie. J. Shentz, L. Pellow, and M. Hurst; Messrs S. Walker, J. James, W. Nelson. G. Dovey, R. Mabin, S. Borton, S. Pendrigh and R. Berry.
