GOD BLESS OTTAWA.
LONDON, April 27. “ God bless the Ottawa Conference,” a dairy produce authority remarked during a discussion of the difficulties facing producers throughout the world. If the safeguards under the Ottawa agreements did not exist, he said, Great Britain would have been free to negotiate comprehensive foodstuffs agreements with foreign countries. The glut in Great Britain emphasises how the agreements have saved Australian producers.
A matter of outstanding importance for Australia and the world at large at the World Economic Conference will be Great Britain’s over-supply of dairy produce. Australia’s rejection of butter restriction is unpopular here. and. coupled with the world agricultural chaos, has brought the problem to a head.
