The Southern Cross.
Dear Sir,—l suppose the civic authorities are planning a reception to Sir Charles Kingsford Smith and his party and I should like to make a suggestion. Could the reception not be held in the open air, if the weather is clement? There is no hall in the city—not even the barracks—big enough to hold the crowd that would wish to do honour to this great airman. A reception with the speeches broadcast through amplifiers could easily be held on the Edmonds Rotunda, for instance, and the scene would be one that would live long in the memory of the crowd, and, I venture to say. of the visitors as well.—l am, etc., ADMIRER OF SMITHY.
