Court Sitting. (Special to the ** Star.”) ASHBURTON, January 13. Judgment for plaintiff by default was given in the following civil cases at the Ashburton Magistrate’s Court this morning:—Pyne Gould Guinness v. James Godwin £5 4s Bd, costs 32s 6d; Wakanui Road Board v. R. C. Baynes £2 7s Bd, costs £1 5s 6d; same v. Dennis Lay £5 10s 7d, costs 32s 6d; same v. Patrick Murphy, £5 10s 3d, costs 32s 6d. Messrs W. H. Rundle and W. Patterson were the presiding justices. Loyal Ashburton Lodge. The Loyal Ashburton Lodge, M.U., 1.0.0. F., met last evening, when the N.G., F. T. Smith presided. Sick pay amounting to £9 3s 4d was passed in favour of ten members Notification was received from the D.S. (Bro A. C. Hardy) that the district conference would be held in Ashburton on Saturday March 18. A resolution was carried conveying fraternal greeting and congratulations to the Star of Ashburton Lodge, U.A.0.D., on the establishment of Druidism in this district. Stock Market. At the wekely sales of pigs and poultry held in Ashburton to-day the following prices were realised:— Pigs—Weaners 5s to 10s 6d; store pigs 12s to 12s 6d; baconers £1 6s 6d. Poultry—Hens Is to Is lOd per pair; roosters Is to 3s 6d per pair.
