His Excellency the Governor-General has presented, on behalf of himself and Lady Bledisloe, a processional cross on an ebonised staff to the Cathedral Parish, Napier, states the “Church Chronicle.” The cross, which was made for the Governor-General in England from a handsome design chosen by the Archbishop of Canterbury, bears the inscription : “ Presented to the Anglican Cathedral at Napier by Charles Bathurst, Baron Bledisloe. and Elaine, his wife, in admiration of the heroism and self-sacrifice displayed during the great earthquake of February 3, 1931.”
