Playmate Has Comfortable Win. Playmate, sailed by T. Bassett, had a comfortable win in the Christchurch Sailing Club’s junior members’ ’•ace at Redcliffs to-day. Five boats started in the race, sailing on a flood tide in a )ight nor’-easterly over the Skylark Islapd-Avon Buoy course. Playmate was first to cross, and rounded at the tripod pile half a minute ahead of Cygnet, with another half minute to Gadfly. With her spinnaker out, Cygnet closed in temporarily on Playmate, but on the beat back from the Skylark Island buoy. Playmate drew right away, to cross the finishing mark nearly eight minutes ahead of Cygnet. Results: — Playmate (T. Bassett), scr .... 1 Cygnet (J. Haughton), lmin .. 2 Winsome (D. The Canterbury Yacht and Motor-boat Club held races at Lyttelton this afternoon, with the following results: 14ft handicap—lrene (E. Sinclair). 2min, 1; Colleen (G. Brassell). scr, 2; Huia (S. Sinclair), 4min, 3; Elfin (T. Hobbs), 4min, also started. Takapunas—Listless (W. Tissaman), scr, 1; Uira (H. Wells), smin, 2; Wet-U (F. Priddy), 3Jmin, 3. Cornwell Cup Crew. The Port Christchurch representatives in the Cornwell Cup competitions at Lyttelton on January 25 are: O. Whit'o (skipper) and T. Bassett.
