Pay Envelopes.
To the Editor. Dear Sir, —“Father of Five ” has no kick coming when he is asked to accept a srrlaller pay envelope when thousands of men are doing heavy work for an envelope containing next to nothing. I might inform him also that Councillor Armstrong’s suggestions are viewed very favourably by the general public; naturally they would not be by the pampered little army of council employees whose motto seems to be “ Blow you, Jack, I’m jake.” “ Father of Five ” need not worry about experience being required in out department. All that is necessary is the ability to drive a dray drawn by an over-fed, underworked horse. He wants a spell with a contractor and he would know what work means. His pay envelope would not be so big, but he could rest assured it would be well earned.—l am, etc., CONTRACT
