Cooke Goes Over. The “ Star s’’ Auckland correspondent telegraphs:—“A. E. Cooke’s registration with the Richmond League Club was effected on Wednesday night, after a discussion in committee. He will play against Newton to-morrow. Only two more Saturdays remain for play in the championship. Devonport are leading Marist and Ponsortby by four oints and would have to lose both ames before their total could be even quailed. Cooke says that he realises '.i*at although he had been working on father-in-law’s farm in Hawke’s 4/ he would have to train harder than to make good in his new career, lie had been keen to get back to his home town and Richmond’s offer of employment came opportunely. Richmond and City are running level at he bottom of the championship. Cooke first won prominence in 1923 when playing club football in Auckland, and next ear he went Home with the All blacks.
