Y.M.C.A. STREET APPEAL.

The Y.M.C.A. Street Appeal Executive met last evening; present; Messrs S. W. Jameson (in the chair), I>. E. Parton, W. C. Mackay, B. T. K. Allison, H. F. Baird, A. J. M’Eldowney and the'recording secretary (Miss Nora Kent). Mr M’Eldowney reported that 350 collectors liad promised to help and that there was an excellent prospect of getting 600. It i*as decided to make an appeal for collectors from 7.45 a.m. to 9 a.m., from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. and from 1 p.m. to 3 p.m. Mr Allison stated that there had been an encouraging report from the appeal made to firms to man corners. It was decided to arrange for a special meeting of collectors for Wednesday evening, July 6, at 7.30. Mr Mackay, chairman of the Publicity Committee, reported that arrangements had been made for supplements in each of the newspapers on the day prior to the appeal. A special talk would be broadcast from 3YA on July 7 and the New Zealand Farmers’ Co-op. had been approached with reference to a broadcast on Tuesday, July 5. It was reported that arrangements in connection with headquarters in Calder Mackay’s buildings were well in hand and that the Women’s Auxiliary would dispense tea to collectors as they come off duty. Tt was decided that the slogan for the posters would he “ Help the Y.M.C.A. to help Our Boys,” hnd for the posters in the shop windows, “The Y.M.C.A. is doing its job in helping the Boys—You can help the Y.M.C.A.” A number of cars will be nettled and it was decided to ask car owners to I ring the Y.M.C.A. if their cars would be available. l
