Flying Feats of Past Year Recognised.
United Press Assn.—By Electric Telegraph—Copyright. PARIS, March 4. The International League of Aviators has made the following awards in aviation for the year 1931: Outstanding Feat of the Year. Mdlle. Bastie, a young French airwoman, who holds the light aeroplane duration record of 37 hours 55 minutes, without refuelling, and the distance record, 1795 miles, which she achieved in her flight from Paris to Nijni-Novogorod last July. International Champion. General Italo Balbo, Italian Air Minister, in recognition of his flight with a squadron of twelve ’planes from Italy across the Atlantic to Brazil. British Champions. Mr 11. L. Hinkler, trans-Atlantic flight. Miss Amy Johnson, flight to Tokio. Air-Commodore C. E. Kingsforrl Smith, flights between Australia and England.
Medal of Honour. Miss Peggy Salaman. record flight from London to Cape Town.
Balloon Champions. Dr Hugo Eckener, dirigibles Dr Albert Piccard, spherical
