A fair amount of damage by smoke and water was done to new stock at the bootshop of Woolcock, Ltd., 644, Colombo Street, ) r esterday afternoon. The outbreak was in a stack of rubbish in the rear of the shop. There was no need for the Fire Brigade’s ser-To-morrow Christmas celebrations will be observed at the Rugby Street Methodist Church. The preacher for the occasion will be the Rev W. Rowe, whose morning subject will be “ Hitch Your Waggon to a Star.” A musical festival has been arranged at eventide. A large choir under the conductorship of Mr W. Simpson will render anthems and choruses from “ The Messiah.” The soloists will be Mrs Stallard, Mrs Bates, Mrs Colthart, Miss Joyce Wilkinson, Messrs Clothier and Hindle.
