An gas Beats Seay in First Test of Season. UNINSPIRING STRUGGLE. With the Canterbury championships only a few days away the draw for the senior inter-club competition to-day was particularly interesting. Several players whose chances in the provincial contest will be watched with interest were brought together and their trials of strength were thus given an added importance. Principal interest was centred in the first meeting for the season of I. A. Sea}’- and C. Angas, between whom the final of the provincial title should lie, and quite a gallery gathered at the centre courts. Angas won 8-6, 5-7, 6-2, but it was an uninspiring struggle with neither player giving away much to the other. Results were:— SENIOR GRADE, CASHMERE v. FENDALTON I. Singles. R. Browning beat W. S. The Canterbury Lawn Tennis Association’s inter-club tournament was continued at Wilding Park this afternoon. The second section of the A grade, which is in the seventh round, was played on the grass. The B, C, and D, w’hich are in the fifth round, was played on the hard courts. Rain interrupted the play shortly after four o’clock.
