FIRE OCCURS IN BLOCK OF FLATS.
ELECTRIC KETTLE WAS LEFT SWITCHED ON.
An electric kettle, left standing on the floor. with the power switched on caused an outbreak of fire in a twostorey wooden block of flats at 10, Peterborough Street at six o’clock last evening. The brigade was on the scene before the fire got properly under way, but the kettle had by that time burned through the carpet, the floor, and the ceiling of a room below. The total damage was about £5. The flats are owned by Mrs A. Boswell, and are occupied by various tenants. The apartment in which the fire broke out was occupied by Miss E. Dunsford.
