CAUGHT RED-HANDED WHILE STEALING WOOD.
Two brothers admitted in the Magistrate’s Court this morning that, in order to make a table for their whare, they stole timber valued at -£1 16s from H. J. Otley and Co.’s timber yards last night. The accused were Ernest Forbes, aged eighteen, and Jack Forbes, aged twenty, both labourers living in Sydenham. Mr E. D. Mosley, S.M., was on the bench.
“ They were caught red-handed,” said Sub-Inspector O’Hara. “At a quarter to ten the night watchman saw a match struck, and sent for the police. One constable waited outside and the other went in and found the boys hiding, with the wood all ready to be taken away. They frankly admitted. that they Were stealing the Wq>6d. We know nothing of them other than this affair.” The case was adjourned till Monday, pending a report by the probation offi-
