MAHAKIPAWA SHARES ARE SOLD BY AUCTION.
A sale of forfeited Mabakipawa shares was held this afternoon in the Builders' Association rooms, when 7000 fully-paid shares were submitted. They realised from 4id to Sid each. Members of the Stock Exchange were, by their own rules, debarred from bidding. Some of the more important sales were: 300 at sd, 1200 at 4Jd, 200 at sid, 200 at sd, 800 at sd, 500 at sd, and 650 at sd. The 7000 offered were those of shareholders who had purchased preference shares and defaulted. These -were sold by the company as being fully paid, the company having the right to sue the original shareholders for any deficiency. “This is the first sale of.its kind that I remember in Christchurch,” the auctioneer, Mr H. G. Livingstone, stated. “It is the first that I have conducted.”
