A TIME LIMIT ON ENGAGEMENTS.
JUDGES COMMENT IN COURT PROCEEDINGS. (United Press Assn.—By Electrlo ' Telegraph.—Copyright.) LONDON, March 14. The bachelor Judge, Sir Henr\* M’Cardie, has been trying a breach of promise case in which a woman aged thirty-three was awarded £ls damages against a man aged thirty-three who broke an engagement of eight years* standing- because he met a wealthy Park Lane widow. Giving judgment, his Honor said: “Instead of assisting womanhood these actions greatly lowered her dignity. There is no more degrading occupation for a Judge and a jury.” They did, however, raise the point whether it was desirable for a girl to accept a man without setting some time limitation to the engagement.
