KEEN COMPETITION AT WOOL SALES.

BRADFORD BUYERS ARE ACTIVE AT WELLINGTON. Per Press Association. WELLINGTON, January 7. At. to-day's wool sale the aggregate catalogue was 18,000 bales. There was keen competition and the sale opened slightly under the closing rates of the December sales. Super-crossbred of good quality was fully up to the December level, whilst wool just reaching average grade was weaker by a farthing. The wool which sold at 4id and 4fd a pound in December did not quite reach those prices to-day. Bellies and pieces were from a farthing to a halfpenny cheaper. The wool offered was good average quality, considering the poor season, but slightly heavier in grease as compared with the December offering, and yet bright in colour, if lacking good growth Bradford was active, America was buying moderately of suitable wools, and the Continent was only fairly keen. Very little old wool was in the catalogue.
