LIGHT ON ERIN’S ANCIENT GLORY.

ROYAL TOMB FOUND ON MOUNT SHEEBEG. DYNASTY REIGNED TWO THOUSAND YEARS AGO. (United Press Assn.—By Electric Telegraph.—Copyright.) (Received January 5, noon.) LONDON, January 4. New light may be thrown on Ireland’s ancient glories by the exhumation from Sheebeg Mountain, overlooking the ancient Hill of Tara, near Car-rick-on-Shannon, of a supposed King and Queen, who bore sway 2000 years ago. Antiquarians found these remains I after removing hundreds of tons of rocks and rubble, including a solid block of masonry, ten tons in weight, closing the entrance to the royal vault, the removal of which disclosed a cavity in which sat male and female skeletons side by side, facing towards the royal seat of Tara. The skeletons are considered to be those of royalties of supreme importance in ancient Erin. Further exploration may disclose treasure and armour of inestimable historic value in another chamber in the royal mountain, which Civic Guards are perpetually watching, while hundreds of spectators arrive daily. Mount Sheebeg dominates five counties and overlooks fourteen lakes. According to legend it contains the remains of a dynasty, whose origin is lost in the mists of antiquity.
