The Princess Royal, the King’s eldest sister, who has been an invalid; for some time, ' died suddenly of heart failure in her sleep this afternoon, in the presence of her daughters, the Princess Arthur of Connaught and Lady Maud Carnegie. She was sixtyfour years of age.

She was declared Princess Royal in 1905. She married in 1889 the Duke of Fife, who died in 1912. The Princess Royal was the eldest daughter of King Edward VII. The Princess Royal, Louise Victoria Alexandra Dagmar, Duchess of Fife, was born on February 20, 1867. She leaves two daughters, the Duchess of Fife (Alexandra Victoria Alberta Edwina Louise), who married Prince Arthur of Connaught in 1913, and Princess Maud Alexandra Victoria Georgina Bertha (Lady Maud Carnegie), who married Lord Carnegie in 1923. Sisters of the Princess Royal are Princess Victoria Alexandra Olga Mary and the Queen of Norway (Maud Charlotte Mary Victoria).
