MADMAN TRIES TO GAS FOUR FAMILIES
GIRLS IN SYDNEY HAVE VERY NARROW ESCAPES. ' (United Press Assn.—By Electric Telegra ph—Copyrigh t.) (Received January 5. 11 a.m.) SYDNEY, January 5. Alarm has been caused in the suburb of Waverley by the actions of a maniac, who has attempted to asphyxiate the inmates of two households with gas from a hose which he attached to a meter. The man is still at large. Two previous attempts failed, but this time three girls had very narrow escapes at both places. The madman disturbed the father of 1 one house, and he gave chase.
