VARIED SPORTS HELD IN WEEK AT AKAROA.
Akaroa has had a gala week, and the many visitors have been well catered for as regards amusements. Besides tennis, bowling, croquet and golf for a few enthusiasts, there have been dances in the evenings. Another great attraction has been moonlight launch trips down the harbour, a very popular pastime after the heat of the day. On Tuesday the tennis club held a successful dance jn the Oddfellows’ Hall, at which there was a large attendance, the club benefiting by £26. Blogg’s Band from Christchurch supplied the music. On Thursday the Regatta Committee held their annual dance in the Boating Club Social Hall, £2O being taken. On Friday the Bowling Club held a carnival, when full rinks and pairs were played, the club members being reinforced by a good many visiting bowlers. In the evening the club held an enjoyable dance. The weather all the week was ideal for holiday making, the last two or three days being almost too hot. Needless to say the splendid bathing facilities have been taken full advantage of. the beaches being crowded for most of the da}' and evening.
