‘ * \ LYTTELTON LEADS IN I INTER-TEAMS’ MATCH. | The annua] South Island teams* competition Tor the C.A.C. Cup -was held at Sockburn to-day, under the auspices of the Christchurch Gun Club. The conditions of the match were 15 clays from the 16yds mark. Nine teams entered, making- in all a field of sixtythree shooters. The birds were, from the start, difficult to follow*, an easterly wind causing them to rise fast. Hazy conditions also made shooting hard. Prior to the teams’ match a six-bird and a. nine-bird sweepstake were held. In the nine-bird match F. Brightling, A. E. Brightling and I. G. Watkins broke the possible, and in the six-bird match K. Ower. A. S. Taylor, I. G. Watkins and {3. H. Anderson tied with all on. In the main match, the scoring remained close throughout the first six rounds, when the scores were: Christchurch No. 3 35, Ellesmere 35, North Canterbury 35, Springston No. 1 35, Lyttelton 35, Methven 34, Christchurch No. 2 30, Springston No. 2 29, and Tai Tapu 28. Lyttelton then took the lead, and at the end of the twelfth round had 55, North Canterbury running close with 54. Methven had 52, Christchurch No. 1 52. Ellesmere 50, and Springston No. 1 50.
